Greetings in the name of the Lord!
Welcome to the Southland College Moodle! site. We trust your time with us sees you grow in both your faith and your work as a Christian teacher.
This e-learning site has been set up to provide you with access to course materials (for those units taught on line) as well as to give you an area to contact students and lecturers.
There are two main areas to access:
COURSE UNIT AREA - this area has chat rooms and forums specific to your course unit. Only students enroled in that unit can access the materials and resources here.
GENERAL STUDENT AREA - this is a general area (the page you are reading this on!) where you can use the forums and chat rooms to talk to all students and staff. This is also where news affected the whole community will be posted.
In trialling Moodle last year we made an interesting discovery - it only works if students use it! I got a number of emails from students saying that they wanted to chat but no one else was online. In fact, in one instance, a student waited 5 minutes, no one showed up and they logged off. A few minutes later, another one logged on waited, and logged off. That night close to 10 students showed up wanting to chat, but showed up one after the other so they thought they were alone!
I want to encourage each of you to make use of this site. Post to the forums and chat with fellow students. Progressively we will put course materials (tutorials, readings, etc) on the site for each of our units.
